Dental veneers can restore the appearance of your teeth Beresford Dental – The Smile Pros team offers two types of dental veneers: porcelain and composite veneers. Dental veneers are used to cover the front of the teeth to mask cosmetic chips, cracks and minor imperfections. This treatment is only used on the teeth in your smile zone; which are the top and bottom teeth visible when you smile. Porcelain veneers These veneers are made out of thin shells of porcelain and are made to match the colour of your existing teeth. They create an enamel like surface that help to give you that perfect smile. They can be polished to a higher lustre, are strong and resistant to stains and chipping. Careful design and minimal preparation is the key to long term success. At your first consultation, we will be taking impressions of your teeth and the final shape is pre-planned and digitally designed for your approval. Most often a trial smile is tested in your mouth before any treatment. Then teeth are slightly prepared to the design. Our in house dental laboratory will manufacture the veneers within 48 hours. Your next appointment is where your smile transformation happens. The permanent porcelain veneers will be tested to make sure they are a good fit and once we, and also you are happy, they will be bonded to the teeth. Composite veneers An affordable option is composite veneers which only takes one appointment. Even though they are a different material they are made to match the colour of your existing teeth. A composite resin material is placed and shaped onto the desired teeth and is then hardened with a special blue light and polished. Composite veneers do not last as long as porcelain veneers nor are they as stain-resistant. However, they are still an effective way of restoring the appearance of your teeth. They are reasonably strong when bonded to enamel and can be periodically refurbished by polishing. Teeth Whitening To get the freshest, brightest looking smile we may recommend a combination of veneers and Zoom! Teeth Whitening. Porcelain veneers are unaffected by teeth whitening treatments, which is why at your initial consultation we may recommend a combination of the two treatments. In fact, this is quite common practice prior to any restorative work. By whitening your teeth prior to placing a restoration, we can colour-match your restoration to the colour of a whiter, brighter smile. That way, if you do want to whiten later on, your porcelain veneer or other restoration won’t stand out like a sore thumb. A happy patient who had Zoom! Teeth Whitening and veneers shares her photo.
